What will the office of the future look like?

The labor market is constantly changing. According to the World Economic Forum, 65% of first grade primary school pupils will work in a profession that does not exist yet. Many professions will become automated. In those professions that remain in the market, employees will have a different work rhythm and workplace. What will the office of the future look like? We have some ideas.

Employee-focused

Employees will take the center stage. Their needs and work styles will be a point of reference for creating offices. A candidate’s expectations and predispositions will be investigated even before concluding a contract. Only then will a personalized workplace be prepared for them. Such solutions are supposed to ensure ultimate comfort (e.g. office furniture tailored to the employees’ physique) and motivation for work (an office tailored to the employees’ personalities).

Tailoring office solutions to an employee and providing them with the optimum conditions to work are all part of the employee-centric approach. This way an employee remains loyal to the company and is not tempted to hop from one job to another”, comments Rafał Wilk, COO at Solutions.Rent.

Flexible space

Employers will prioritize flexible solutions at their companies, which may be adjusted to changing circumstances. Depending on the needs, the same space must provide as many arrangement opportunities as possible. When brainstorming is required, the office may be converted into a large open space. When employees need peace and quiet to focus – the space is converted into several small offices.

Mobility solutions

Advanced technological solutions will allow employees to work from any location and at any time. If an employee decides to come to the office, they will be provided with a modular furniture system, allowing them to tailor their office to their personality and work style. Frequent office furniture arrangement changes will no longer be a problem.

Eco-fashion

Eco-trends have become an integral part of life philosophy. In the future, they will also affect the labor market. It’s not only about waste sorting and saving electricity or water. Offices will be designed using natural materials, such as wood or stone. Green oases and capsules, relying on nature’s power, will ensure that employees are able to relax and stay healthy.

Working with a smile

Employees will still care about a healthy and friendly atmosphere at work. This won’t change over time. Friendly coworkers, a friendly boss and organizational culture impact the level of satisfaction and also the productivity of employees. That is why, apart from achieving the company’s objectives and caring for the employees’ health (by using appropriately shaped desks and chairs), the future office will also host industry meetings and events to help employees form and maintain relationships.
