How to cope with stress? Seven ideas

By November 8, 2019 Lifestyle

“The Workforce View in Europe 2017”, a survey conducted for the international company ADP, reveals that the Poles are among the most stressed nations in Europe. 22% of the respondents claim that they are faced with stress at work everyday and almost a half admit to being stressed often or very often. How to cope with stress? There are a few tried and true methods.

Keeping fit

Physical activity reduces stress hormone (cortisol) levels. When you workout, your body produces endorphins that help you cope in difficult situations and make you feel happy. Even as little as 30 minutes of everyday physical activity will cause your body to deal with stress differently. This will also increase your body’s oxygen intake and keep fit.

Remember!

Choose an exercise that is enjoyable for you. Do not force yourself to go to the gym if you don’t like it. Go swimming, ride a bike or take dance lessons instead.

Following a healthy diet

Healthy dietary habits will help your body achieve balance. Drink at least 1.5 l of water everyday. When your body is dehydrated, it produces more stress hormones. Rehydrate with green tea. Through its antioxidants content is neutralizes free radicals that are responsible for oxidative stress. Make sure that your diet includes magnesium-rich products (nuts, groats, spinach, bran, oatmeal). Also, eat regular meals and do not skip breakfast before work. Quit drinking coffee, alcohol and sweet snacks. It’s no good for you.

Overnight recovery

You know very well that you body needs sleep. That is why you shouldn’t got to bed too late. 8 hours of sleep a day is a must. If you’re tired, take a little nap after work. A power nap reduces cortisol levels and boosts your energy.

Through thick and thin

Nothing raises your spirits like meet-ups with buddies. Meet a friend for coffee, go see a movie or take a trip out of town. Interactions with others are great for dealing with stress.

There’s nothing like a SPA visit

Treat yourself to a SPA visit! A hot bath with scented oils is very relaxing and a massage is good not only for your body, but also for your mental state. You may organize your home SPA or book a massage in a salon.

Little pleasures

Compulsive shopping to improve your mood is not recommended, but why deny yourself the little pleasures? Treat yourself to a good coffee, go to the theater or plan dinner at a restaurant. Read a book, watch your favorite series or listen to music. Such small pleasures will help you cope with everyday stress better.

– Many people don’t know how to cope with stress. They use stimulants and stress-eat. That’s not the way to go. Negative emotions can be managed. You only need some self-discipline says Marta Kamińska from Solutions.Rent.

Breathing techniques

Stressful situations only make you more anxious and fill your head with dark thoughts. Try to calm down. Proper breathing may help you reduce tension and help your body relax. So take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Repeat the exercise for one minute. Feeling better?
