How to cope with stress? Seven ideas
“The Workforce View in Europe 2017”, a survey conducted for the international company ADP, reveals that the Poles are among the most stressed nations in Europe. 22% of the respondents claim that they are faced with stress at work everyday and almost a half admit to being stressed often or very often. How to cope with stress? There are a few tried and true methods.
Keeping fit
Physical activity reduces stress hormone (cortisol) levels. When you workout, your body produces endorphins that help you cope in difficult situations and make you feel happy. Even as little as 30 minutes of everyday physical activity will cause your body to deal with stress differently. This will also increase your body’s oxygen intake and keep fit.
Remember!
Choose an exercise that is enjoyable for you. Do not force yourself to go to the gym if you don’t like it. Go swimming, ride a bike or take dance lessons instead.
Following a healthy diet
Healthy dietary habits will help your body achieve balance. Drink at least 1.5 l of water everyday. When your body is dehydrated, it produces more stress hormones. Rehydrate with green tea. Through its antioxidants content is neutralizes free radicals that are responsible for oxidative stress. Make sure that your diet includes magnesium-rich products (nuts, groats, spinach, bran, oatmeal). Also, eat regular meals and do not skip breakfast before work. Quit drinking coffee, alcohol and sweet snacks. It’s no good for you.
Overnight recovery
You know very well that you body needs sleep. That is why you shouldn’t got to bed too late. 8 hours of sleep a day is a must. If you’re tired, take a little nap after work. A power nap reduces cortisol levels and boosts your energy.
