Coworking for mums: is it worth it?

Parenting or work? This is a choice that every woman who gave birth to a child will have to face. On the one hand, you don’t want your child to go to a nursery, but on the other – you devoted so much time to career development that it’d be a shame to waste it. Don’t know what to do? Fortunately, you don’t have to choose – there’s coworking for mums.

In Poland, coworking for mums emerged in 2012 in the form of a social initiative taken up by Karolina Dorożała i Kamila Jeżowska-Hułas. The initiative was a part of the European Commission’s competition intended to select innovative solutions driving the creation of new workplaces for individuals at risk of social marginalization. Meanwhile, several coworking offices for mothers were established, and the MamoPracuj.pl portal created a project: Desk for Mum. As part of the project, mothers were offered coworking space for rent at an attractive price.

Coworking for mums: enjoy having your hands free

You know well what it’s like to work with a child on your lap. The problem is not only about these small fingers reaching for the keyboard, but also the need to feed your child, change their diaper and put them to sleep. A child always wins the battle for your attention. No surprise there – after all, the child is the most important. You already know that you cannot effectively work with a baby on your lap, no matter how determined you are.
